Wash and dry the fresh basil leaves by placing them on paper towels and gently pressing another towel on top.
In a food chopper or the bowl of a food processor, add the fresh basil leaves and walnuts
Blend the pesto base on medium speed for a few seconds until the nuts turn into a crumbly mixture. Add the whole peeled garlic, parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper.
Blend again on medium speed to pulse garlic and cheese into a coarse texture. Switch the food processor on low speed, and slowly add olive oil in a steady stream.
